These ten lessons teach the story of God rescuing the Israelites from Egypt and how it relates personally to each student.
Dear Senior Teen,
Israel and his son Joseph died. But like responsible men, they took time for Tying Up Loose Ends before their demise. Some of the most important blessings and instructions in the entire Bible were given here. Israel was mourned before being laid to rest.
God selected a man who was brought up in Pharaoh's own house to rescue the children of Israel from 430 years of slavery. Moses' life was Saved From Infanticide by a loving mother, a princess, a sister, and God. What happened in the Nile River that got God's attention? After God called Moses and gave him his job description, things went From Bad to Worse. Pharaoh wasn't pleased to see Moses and he became cruel to God's people. Moses and the Israelites became discouraged because of their cruel treatment. This just didn't seem fair to anyone. But, is fair what you really want? God looks at The Big Picture. He has a plan that He is working out on this earth. He looks at long term results and not just the immediate. Sometimes God has something greater in mind than your comfort, and the comfort of a group of people.
Rather than lightening up on Pharaoh, God sent More Plagues. Pharaoh's magicians were able to duplicate some of the first plagues. Do you think this was a problem for Moses? Do you think some of the Israelites could have doubted God's power? But God didn't let up on Pharaoh. He sent plagues of lice and flies that caused man and animal to Scratch, Scratch, Scratch! Scratching yourself raw in all sorts of embarrassing places wasn't the way you would want to spend your day. But since Pharaoh wouldn't let God's people go into the wilderness to worship Him even after these plagues, God continued with Strike Five, Six, and Seven.
Every plague hurt the people of Egypt and their economy more and more. But Pharaoh was a very stubborn, arrogant man who had no respect for God, nor love for his slaves. He needed this lesson on Humility vs Conceit. Learn from this seminar the enormous advantages of properly appraising yourself and not getting carried away with conceit and arrogance. Keep in mind that God's Not Finished with Pharaoh, and He's not finished with you. He wanted the Israelites free so they could worship Him. He wants you free of selfishness, arrogance, and conceit. He's started a good work in you and God's Not Finished with you. Hang on to your hat, God may polish just a little bit more on you, because He wants you in His Kingdom.
Payday came for Pharaoh and the Egyptians. Every firstborn male, both man and beast, were killed on the night of the Passover. Learn how this was necessary and how it ties in with the sacrifice Christ made for your life.
We've tried to make each seminar age appropriate, interesting, filled with bits and pieces of information that will add to your understanding and life's direction. Read your seminars before class. Do your Activity and read your devotional readings every day. These seminars are NOT shallow. They are written for 16-20 year-old young adults. They will help you grow!
