This set of ten lessons covers the stories of Balaam, Joshua, the fall of Jericho, Gideon, Samson, and Ruth - using each to encourage the student to trust God, be obedient to His Word, and to think like a hero.
There is an old song that your parents might be able to sing to you. One of the lines goes something like this: "Holding out for a hero.” In today's world, our heroes might be sports celebrities, music stars, a police officer, or a fire fighter. We look up to these people because of the things they do. Only, sometimes what they do isn't very heroic. Many heroes truly have feet of clay.
In this book you are going to read the stories of some fantastic Bible heroes and heroines. They too made mistakes as everyone does. But because they were “Chosen by God”, they had a definite “Recipe for Success." They showed their “Faith in Action.” You'll read about Moses’ integrity to “Stop This Plague," and you'll learn how “Devoted” Ruth was. God's heroes are always “Lookin' For a Sign” from Him, looking for God's direction. And since “God Equips the Called,” you'll read about the gifts our “Powerful and Mighty God” gives to those who love and trust Him. You'll read about “Balaam's Curse” and the “Changing of the Guard."
By the end of this book, you'll know a lot more about Godly, Biblical heroes and heroines. You'll also know that our greatest Heroes are God the Father and Jesus Christ, His Son. They are the Ones we can always depend upon. They are the Ones who will never make a mistake or let us down. They are the Heroes we are holding out for.
Enjoy!
