STUBBORN - refused to do what God told him
LICE - tiny bugs that live in the hair and on the body of people, biting them
Moses and Aaron told Pharaoh to let God's people go. God wanted His people to go into the desert so they could worship Him. But, Pharaoh said, “NO!" He was a very stubborn man. He wouldn't listen and obey God. So God sent some bad things to get Pharaoh's attention.
First, all the water in Egypt turned into blood. There was no water for the people to drink. The water in the rivers and lakes turned to blood. Then all the fish began to die. It was a very stinky mess! But Pharaoh wouldn't let God's people go.
One morning the Egyptians wakened to a funny sound. Ribbit, ribbit! Frogs were in their houses. They were in their ovens and on the dishes. They were in their clothes and in their beds. Frogs were even in their food!
Pharaoh got mad, but he wouldn't let God's people go. Then God sent all kinds of bugs to the people of Egypt. Flies buzzed and bit them. Lice were all over their bodies. They made the people itch and scratch. He even sent big grasshoppers that ate the leaves off all the plants and trees. But Pharaoh was still stubborn.
The Egyptians' animals got sick and died. They had big sores all over their bodies. There was no medicine to make them feel better. Then God sent big balls of hail from the sky. They fell on the animals and people. There was even fire with the hail. Then God made it dark for three whole days. But Pharaoh still said. "NO!"

Obedience at any age can be difficult. Children have their own thoughts and ideas and often choose them rather than obedience. Emphasizing to children that obedience is an act of love is beneficial. It takes the focus off of their desires (what do I want to do) and places it on others (when I obey I show them love and respect). Obedience is a choice we make everyday. Pharaoh chose not to listen and obey what God said.
Before you come to class, make enough copies of the frog head and legs so that each child will have one set. (Patterns are located on the pattern page.) You will need to cut these out ahead of time for the younger children.
