This lesson teaches that, just as God kept His promise to Abraham and Sarah, the student should try very hard to always keep his promises.

BORED- tired of doing nothing
Has anyone ever promised you that they would do something and then forgot their promise? Or, have you ever promised your mommy you would pick up your toys, but didn’t? Sometimes we forget our promises. And, sometimes we break our promises. But, God always keeps His promises.
Do you remember in last week's lesson that God told Abram to Start Packing and move? Abram did what God told him to do. He and Sarai went from one town to another. They lived in tents for the rest of their lives. God showed Abram the land that He promised to give to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Now God made another promise to Abram. He told Abram to look up into the sky. "How many stars do you see?" God asked. The sky was full of stars. There were just too many to count. God told Abram that his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren would be like the stars--too many to count! Abram believed God and this made him righteous.
But there was a problem. Abram and Sarai were getting old. They didn't even have one child. Do you think God forgot about His promise to Abram? No! God doesn't forget His promises. He was just waiting for the right time. He wanted everything to be right before He gave Abram children. You can always count on God to do things right!
When you make a promise, do you keep it?

Preschoolers, in particular, are new in their faith and understanding of God. They may not have had the opportunity to see their prayers answered. They do not have the scientific knowledge that makes the act of creation so remarkable. And most children cannot comprehend God's forgiveness and grace. They can, however, begin to grasp what it means to keep a promise.
Today's lesson about God's promise to Abram will not find its fulfillment until much later. But the important point to be made is that God always keeps His promises. Even when things appear to be hopeless, God can work a miracle to bring the promise to fruition. The fact that God kept repeating the promise is an indication that He intended to fulfill His promise to Abram.
Before class, cut a star shape out of sponge (or purchase one at a craft store), dip it in white paint and press as many stars onto blue construction paper as you can. Place them close together, even overlap some. You may try two different sized star shapes. You will need enough star-shaped sponges for each student in class to have one. Pour a thin laver of white poster paint in the bottom of several shallow pans (the children can share). On blue construction paper write,"God Keeps His Promises," (one for each child).

2. Did he keep his promise when Jennifer thought he would?
3. What two things did God promise Abram?
4. Did God keep his promise to give Abram land, or did He keep it by giving it to Abram's family?
5. How many people did God promise would be in Abram’s family?
6. Does God always keep His promises at the best time?
