DISCIPLE - one of Jesus’ helpers
CROWING - the sound a rooster makes
OBEY - to do what you are told
Peter said to Jesus, “I will always be your helper.” But when some bad men arrested Jesus, Peter was afraid. Do you remember a girl asking Peter if he knew Jesus? And Peter lied. He said that he didn’t even know Jesus. Now he was sorry.
Jesus wanted to know if Peter really did love Him. So three times Jesus asked, “Peter, do you love me?” Three times Peter answered, “Yes!” Each time Jesus told Peter to feed His sheep.
Jesus wasn’t telling Peter to feed real sheep. He wanted Peter to teach people who followed Him to obey Him. He wanted Peter to show that He really loved Jesus by doing what He said.
God showed us that He loves us by sending Jesus to this earth. Jesus showed that He loves us by dying for all the bad things we do. We should love Jesus very much. We show Him that we love him by being good and doing good things for others.

The effective teacher will maintain discipline in the classroom, even when teaching preschoolers. You are concerned with “discipline,” meaning “control,” not “punishment.” Children without limits will be constantly misbehaving and running around. The job of the teacher includes helping the children learn what their limits are. Teaching them to behave should be done in love, and their obedience will be love response. John 14:23 says, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching” (NIV). When we love God, we will love His little ones. They in turn will learn to obey because they love.
For the activity, you will need a child’s stuffed lamb. Make a pocket out of a piece of fabric, and sew or pin the pocket to the lamb. Cut out and place enough small paper hearts in the pocket so that each child in the class will have one.

Dear God, I love you. Help me learn to show you that I love you by doing what you tell me in the Bible. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
