DISCIPLES - men who helped Jesus
Jesus had some helpers who worked for Him. He called these helpers “disciples.” Jesus had twelve disciples Peter, James, John and Andrew; Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew; James, Thaddaeus, Simon and Judas.
Jesus sent these twelve helpers out to do a job. He told them exactly what to do and how to do it. They walked from one town to another. They told people everywhere that Jesus loved them. At night they stayed with friends of Jesus. Jesus’ friends gave them food to eat and a place to sleep.
Sometimes the disciples met people who didn’t like Jesus. Some of these people were not kind to the disciples. Jesus told the disciples to just leave that city. They were to brush the dust off their feet and go somewhere else. Jesus knew exactly what He wanted His helpers to do. He told them exactly how to do it. Jesus knew what was best for His helpers. If they did what Jesus told them they would be happy.
Jesus wants you and me to be His helpers, too. He wants us to do what He tells us to do. The Bible says that we should tell other people about Him. You can tell your friends that Jesus loves them. You can ask them to come to Sabbath School with you.
When you do what Jesus tells you, you will be happy. He knows what is best for you.

Sharing the Gospel
Bible, YEA Students’ and Teacher’s books, attendance and memory verse charts, stars, songbook, CD or cassette tape, music player, plaster of Paris, heavy paper plates, paper clips or pop-top tabs, marbles or shells
“Preschoolers usually know the difference between right and wrong. This can be seen in their attempts to hide signs of doing wrong. . . But children this age may have not learned how to take responsibility for their actions” (David Cook Ministries).
Preschoolers do, however, know that it is right to obey. They have generally all suffered the consequences for not obeying. Today’s lesson stresses the importance of obeying God’s Word and doing what He tells us to do.
Before you come to class, list the disciples’ names on a chalk board or newsprint pad. These children cannot read, but they can count the names. They also will recognize that two of the names are the same.
Prepare plaster of Paris ahead of time and pour into heavy paper plates (about ó inch deep). You will need one for each child in your class. Allow it to become semi-firm but not hard.
1. How many helpers did Jesus have?
2. Do you remember what Jesus called His helpers?
3. How do we know what Jesus wants us to do?
4. What should we do when Jesus tells us to do something?
5. What did Jesus’ helpers help Him do?
6. Does He want you to tell other people about Him, too?

Dear Father, Thank you for Jesus’ helpers. I want to help you, too. Please help me to always do what you tell me to do. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
