BANDAGE - strip of cloth used to cover an injury
INN - a place like a hotel
A man was walking down a road one day. Some really bad men came along. They beat the man. They tore his clothes off. And they took all of his money. Then they left him by the side of the road, hurt and bleeding.
Another man came walking down the road. His steps went pat, pat as he walked along. Everyone thought this was a good man. He saw the poor hurt man. But he crossed to the other side of the road. He didn’t even stop to help.
Later, a Levite came walking down the road. Everyone thought he was a good man too. Clomp, clomp went his sandals on the road. He saw the poor hurt man. But, guess what? He didn’t stop either! He just walked on by.
Click, clickety, click came a sound of a donkey walking. Could that be a man on the donkey? Yes, it was a Samaritan man. The Samaritan saw the hurt man lying by the road. He heard the man groan with pain. The Samaritan didn’t keep walking. He thought, “This man really needs help. I’ll see what I can do.” He put medicine on the man’s sores. He covered them with bandages. Then, he put him on his own donkey. He took the hurt man to an inn where he could rest and get well. He gave the innkeeper money to take care of the man. He said, “I’ll bring you more money if you need it.”
Who do you think was the Nice Neighbor? He did good things like Jesus did. Don’t you want to be like Jesus?

Preschoolers depend on their mothers for everything at home. They need her help getting dressed, going to the bathroom, finding snacks and just about everything else they do. At Sabbath School, the teacher will provide for their needs.
These little ones learn from their experiences. Since they cannot see God, it is more difficult for them to know that He provides for their every need. As you love and care for them, they will discover God’s love and care through you. This lesson helps the children to see God’s love through the Good Samaritan as well.
Before you come to class, write “Nice Neighbor” with a permanent marker pen on large Band-Aids. You will need one for each child in your class.
Have the children act out today’s story as you ask the questions.
1. A man was walking down the road. (One child walking.) Some really bad men came along. (Two children come up to the child walking.) What did the bad men do? (Have them pretend to beat and rob the man.)
2. (First child lying on the floor.) A man came by and saw the hurt man. (Another child walks up.) What did he do? (Walks on by.)
3. A Levite man came by. He was supposed to be a good man. (Another child walks up.) What did he do?
4. Finally a Samaritan man came along. (you can use another child, or if class is small, reuse one of the children.) What did the Samaritan do? (Pretend to put bandages on.)
5. Who was the Nice Neighbor?
Letter: Y

LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOU LOVE YOURSELF. THE SAMARITAN PUT THE HURT MAN ON THE DONKEY BECAUSE HE REALLY NEEDED HELP.

Thank you, Father, for the story of the Good Samaritan. He was a Nice Neighbor. He helped the poor hurt man. Help me always show love and help people. Help me be like the Good Samaritan. Help me be like Jesus. In Jesus name. Amen.
