MIRACLE - something wonderful that God does
One day Jesus went away to the desert to be alone. He went there to spend time with His Father in prayer. Jesus loved His Father very much and wanted to make His Father happy.
Jesus was so busy talking to His Father that He didn’t even take the time to eat. Jesus went one day without food, two days, three days. . . ten days. . . twenty, thirty, forty days without food! Just think how hungry He must have been.
Satan is our enemy. He hates good but loves bad things. He knew Jesus was in the desert praying and fasting. So, he went to the desert and found Jesus. Satan thought he could get Jesus to obey him instead of His Father.
Since Jesus was so hungry, Satan knew food would taste good. He told Jesus to turn the rocks into bread. He knew that only God’s Son had power to do that. But, Jesus didn’t listen to Satan. He quoted a Bible verse to him.
Satan wanted Jesus to bow down and worship him. So he took Jesus up to a mountain and told Him he would give Jesus all the countries He saw. But, Jesus said another Bible verse.
The last thing Satan did was try to get Jesus to jump off the high roof of the Temple. Jesus knew better than to put His Father to a silly test. Jesus loved His Father and wanted to make Him happy. You can make God happy by obeying what He tells you in the Bible.

Preschoolers are fascinating little people. Each one is a unique individual with different abilities and needs. However, there are some general characteristics about preschoolers and the way they learn that can be very helpful for teachers.
Preschoolers learn through their senses – by experiencing the touch, texture, taste, smell, and sounds of the things around them. In order to maximize this type of learning, teachers will want to bring in as many objects discussed in the lesson as possible so that the children can hold and feel and relate the things in the story to their own lives. For today’s lesson you will need a shallow container of sand, a few rocks and a loaf of bread or roll.
Arrive early enough to put your classroom in order. Since this is the beginning of a new set of lessons, display a new memory verse and attendance chart on the wall at the children’s eye level. Greet each student as they arrive, and allow them to place a star or sticker beside their name on the attendance chart. Involve them in playing with blocks, clay, puzzles or coloring until they reach their comfort level. Encourage each child to recite their memory verse and give them a star and let them place it on the chart.
Before you come to class, toast pieces of mini-bread (small loaves usually found in the deli section of most markets) in the oven until hard (enough so that each child will have one). Photocopy and trace the bread pattern onto colored felt pieces (located on the Pattern Page) and cut them out. Photocopy the ribbon pieces with the memory verse written on them, and cut these out for the younger children.
1. We know that God is good and wants us to do good. Who is bad and wants us to do bad things?
2. Jesus hadn’t eaten for forty days. He was very hungry. What did Satan try to get Him to do?
3. Satan took Jesus up on a mountain and showed Him all the countries. He said he would give them to Jesus if Jesus would do what?

Dear Heavenly Father, I’m glad that Jesus didn’t listen to Satan. Help me learn my Bible verses and always obey you and not Satan. In Jesus’ name. Amen
